Purpose Statement

Responsible for the analysis of market regulation, trade (multilateral and bilateral relations) and economic issues impacting our industry.
Contribute actively to build the association’s policy and promote industry interests towards EU institutions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitor EU policies in the area of market regulation and agriculture (e.g. the Single CMO for sugar) and trade issue at multilateral level (WTO Doha round) and bilateral level (Free trade agreements with third countries including TTIP)
  • Monitor discussions on custom code issue,rules of origin -
  • Draft position papers and technical documents/study to support CEFS lobbying activities
  • Ability to analyse studies on agricultural policies (i.e. sugar) in third countries and in the EU
  • Develop a network of contacts within and outside of the industry
  • Coordinate action with other stakeholder organisations (e.g. FoodDrinkEurope and Primary Food Platform)
  • Promote CEFS positions to national and EU institutions (Commission, Council and Parliament etc.) in Brussels as well as the WTO and Geneva.
  • Organise and co-ordinate internal work among CEFS membership: prepare internal and external meetings, draft agendas, documents and minutes of meetings, maintaining a good working relationship with the members of the organisation.

Education/Qualifications

Science degree.
The working languages are English and French; excellent English writing skills are needed.
German would be considered an asset Work experience within the EU institutions, agencies, etc an advantage.
Proficient computer use (Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point).

A reflective and rigorous individual, the ideal candidate should be able to handle both technical and political aspects of the work; the candidate should be confident with international trade economic issue and should also be able to understand the broader context of the work.
The candidate should have the ability to use newly acquired knowledge in different but related contexts for which they may not have prior training.
A problem-solving and forward-looking individual with the desire to acquire new responsibilities.
A team-worker with good interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multinational environment.
